Athens is a City of Wild Sex
Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world with a recorded history dating back over 3,000 years. Considered by many to be the birthplace of civilization, the city is full of culture and a treasure trove of archaeological remains.
Today the city is the capitol of Greece and is considered one of the most popular and lively places in Southern Europe. Athens is undergoing a significant transformation in terms of rebirth. After years of austerity, graffiti-covered buildings are being turned into art galleries, abandoned garages are being repurposed as cafes, and innovative entrepreneurs are revitalizing the city's restaurant scene.
Athens also boasts a vibrant and diverse gay scene that has grown in recent years. The scene has gone from underground to mainstream and as such, gay travelers can find a number of gay-oriented establishments throughout the city.
The Outview Film Festival, the days of gay cinema, is ten years old. Premieres, awards, stars and industry leaders make the LGBTQI International Film Festival a brilliant event in Athens every spring. The Athens Gay Pride increases the number of participants every year and is also a real tradition. Athens Pride is an annual celebration of the LGBT community in Greece that combines strong social messages with the unique atmosphere of a Greek party delivering a strong message every year.
