LGBTQ Skincare
This year, we are making it our mission to make sure everyone knows how to practice proper skincare. Gone are the days of using a 3-in-1 body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. To look like your best self, you need to understand what type of skin you have and be proactive in taking care of it.
There are not too many products on the market that are specifically designed for our community, so we want to fix just that. Read on for our skincare basics for queer folk.
Skin Types
In the most simple terms, there are four different types of skin. Your skin can be normal, dry, oily, or a combination. The types of products you need to use depends on the type of skin you have, so it is important to recognize your skin type prior to purchasing a new product.
Your skin type can be influenced by your internal and external environments. Your internal environment means both your genetics and what you are putting into your body. In general, eating fresh, organic foods and drinking lots of water throughout the day will improve your skin. Your external environment is where you live and what you do. If you live in a humid environment and spend a lot of time outside, you might notice that your skin gets pretty oily. If you live in a cold, dry environment, then your skin might be more dry.
What are the different types of products?
At the minimum, you need to be using a cleanser, moisturizer, toner, and sunscreen every morning to protect your skin and keep it looking supple and fresh. There are other products that you can get, like scrubs and masks, that you use a couple of times a week to get that extra shine in your skin.
For your face, we offer a fantastic Facial Tonic that will leave your skin hydrated and glowing. We recommend using it before any other product, that way all the vitamins can really soak in. Our organic, cruelty free Moisturizer helps keep your skin healthy and prevents breakouts. Our Eye Balm gets rid of those pesky under eye puffy, dark circles. For those of you with beards, we also offer a variety of Beard Oils so your beard can glow as much as your skin.
Most people know the importance of skincare for their face, but it is just as important to practice proper skin care for the rest of your body. Body butters are great for moisturizing, body scrubs and butt scrubs exfoliate your skin, leaving it soft and supple. Make sure to use body butters daily after showering to get the best effect. Scrubs can be used a couple of times a week, or daily if desired, during your shower. When all of these amazing products come together, your skin will glow and smell fantastic from your nose to your buns.
Always pay attention to the suggested use of the product; i.e. do not use a foot cream on your face.
What makes a good product?
The best products are organic and cruelty free. If you purchase skincare products from larger companies that do not use organic ingredients and instead use synthetics or chemicals, you are more likely to have an allergic reaction or irritation.
Depending on what your skin type is, you want to look out for different ingredients in your products. For example, if you have oily skin, look out for glycolic acid, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and hyaluronic acid. If you have dry skin, look out for shea butter and lactic acid.
Always opt for products that are made locally, like ours on Get Wicked Fox. By using only the freshest, healthiest ingredients, we provide high quality products at low prices.
LGBTQ Skincare in a nutshell
If you have not already noticed, marketing for skincare does not focus on the queer community. We have different needs, so it’s our goal to make sure there is something for everyone. If you are a gay man planning on getting rimmed tonight and want to feel clean and prepared, we have products just for you. Everyone deserves high quality skin care that makes them feel their best at all times throughout the day.
When you practice proper skincare, you will notice a change in your skin in the best way. Say goodbye to breakouts, oil, enlarged pores, and odor. Say hello to soft, glowing, luxurious looking skin.
