How to get rid of stretch marks

Stretch marks are normal. Most of us have had or currently have them, and they are just a sign of change. They can be the result of weight gain, growing quickly, increasing muscle mass in a specific area, or hormones. Whatever the cause, we know how much these marks can impact our self confidence. The easiest way to not deal with stretch marks is to not get them in the first place. Drink lots of water to keep the skin hydrated, and try to avoid rapid weight gain or loss if at all possible.

If you do have stretch marks on your butt, thighs, stomach, or anywhere else and are looking for a remedy on how to get rid of them or make them less noticeable, read our guide.

Overview

Stretch marks are exactly what they sound like: marks that form as the result of skin stretching. They are not painful and are not a sign of any illness, but most people do not like the way they look on their body. Stretch marks are different from cellulite, which makes the skin look lumpy or dimpled. As we are headed into the summer, many people are looking for remedies to conceal insecurities.

Stretch marks typically start out as red or purple and then fade to white over time. If you notice the red or purple marks, they are much easier to get rid of than when they are white. Newly formed stretch marks require less treatment than older ones. Stretch marks can appear just about anywhere, including your butt, thighs, abdomen, arms, and breasts.

Treatments

There are a few different treatments for stretch marks ranging from topical applications to lasers.

    • Exfoliating: by regularly exfoliating, you are naturally getting rid of dead skin on the surface and can allow creams or other topical solutions to penetrate deeper into the skin. You can work on stretch marks on your butt with our Butt Scrub, which uses coffee to gently exfoliate the area. For the rest of your body, try out our Blueberry Muffin Scrub which uses Jojoba Pearls.
  • Topical creams: using lotions or moisturizers that contain Vitamin E oil,   hyaluronic acid, cocoa butter, shea butter, and argan oil are great ways to reduce stretch marks. Massage them into the skin daily, which helps blood flow to the area so they heal quicker.
  • Laser therapy: This is more frequently used on set in stretch marks that have turned white. Lasers penetrate the skin and induce the production of melanin, which helps the stretch marks blend into the color of your skin.
      • Microneedling: Creates collagen under the surface of the skin by creating natural inflammation. This can last for several months, or make the stretch marks go away entirely.
  • Microdermabrasion: Similar to microneedling, microdermabrasion stimulates collagen through exfoliation. It is a painless procedure, but takes longer to see results than microneedling.

  • There is not one correct route when it comes to treatment. It depends on how long the stretch marks have been there, how large the area is, and how quickly you would like them gone. Microneedling will likely be the quickest route out of all of them, but exfoliating and topical creams can prevent and get rid of new stretch marks easily.

    The Bottom Line

Stretch marks are normal, but that does not mean you have to put up with them. If you go the microneedling or laser therapy route, although effective, it will be much more expensive than using organic, cruelty free products topically. Our products use the perfect blend of natural ingredients to stop stretch marks in their tracks.

Keeping the skin hydrated is a great way to prevent stretch marks, so make sure to drink lots of water and consistently moisturize.
